Have our dancing, our music, our art. "

The Ministry of Culture of Brazil, through the Palmares Cultural Foundation and in partnership with Mauricio Pessoa Productions, has unprecedented participation in the World Cup Soccer 2010, held in South Africa Sponsored by Eletrobras via Rouanet law, design Expresso Brazil in the World Cup brings a series of activities that show the thought and artistic expression and intellectual Brazilian, like workshops, film showings, lectures, performances and street concerts. The program takes place in parallel and simultaneously the soccer World Cup in three key cities: Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
The main objective of the movement is to spread the Brazilian art and promote cultural exchange between Brazil and South Africa. The Palmares Cultural Foundation already has the practice of developing strategies of approximation between Brazil and Africa. "Brazil is the largest cultural reference and the diaspora has a responsibility with it," said Zulu Araújo, President of the Palmares Cultural Foundation. Another objective of the Expresso Brazil in the World Cup is also spreading the FIFA World Cup 2014 to be held in Brazil. "This is the start up for a work of cultural diffusion that will continue until the next World Cup. The country will only gain by this, "complete Araujo.
In South Africa, the core audience that the project hopes to achieve is the very African population. "What they know about Brazilian culture is superficial: lying between the percussion and Capoeira. They do not know our artists and do not know how Brazil sees Africa," says Lim Son Elysium, project coordinator and Director of Development and Promotion of Afro-Brazilian culture, the Palmares Foundation. He adds: "Our great challenge is to show to the African continent how Brazil sees them and how they influence us. We have The Ballet Folkloric, the band Black River, Jefferson De from the cinema, the samba school Portela”.
As a proud South African myself, I would like to personally thank on behalf of all Mzanzi, the Teams that are actively involved in making this Project possible for South Africa 2010. We all hope that this experience has bonded Africa and Brazil for great things to come.
